Valentines afternoon Outreach Party at the Hope Centre (by Carol S.)

VALENTINES AFTERNOON OUTREACH PARTY at the Hope Centre  (by Carol S.)

Friday evening was a Valentine’s Party at Hope Centre and we wanted to set up up a cookie decorating table.  So to prepare for this, Yvonne and I went to the centre in the morning to bake about 8 dozen heart-shaped cookies for the party.

New friends: Josie, Irene, Carol, Danae, Mei, Jessica, and Kara
That evening the youth, mostly young girls, rotated through a series of fun events including the cookie decorating.  We even had a few unusual participants like one of the songtao drivers and some of our own group.  I guess everyone loves a cookie.  Well maybe not.  Thai people are not really accustomed to this kind of food, so some were a little hesitant to taste their works of art.

Somchai is not so sure about these cookies :)

This was beautiful to see: P'Chin, from Bethel, takes this opportunity to start
explaining the Bible to Somchai, who has just accepted Christ

We tried to include ESL opportunities with all our projects.  So with cake decorating we would practice the colors of the icing, the shapes of the decorating tips, etc.  Of course for Valentines we used the word “love” often.    I loved being with the girls.  I guess that comes from being a mom of 3 daughters.  It was a wonderful evening with all of them.

Dinner Western style: Spaghetti!

Afterwards, when the team from Edd & Ingrid's arrived, we all went for ice-cream at Swenson's at a nearby mall.
